About
Our Director…

Julie founded The Learning Circle in 1996 while working toward an undergraduate degree from Harvard University Extension School where she majored in Psychology and minored in Early Childhood Development (graduating Cum Laude). Julie also has a M.A.in Child Development from Tufts University’s Eliot Pearson School of Child Development where she concentrated in Clinical Developmental Psychology.
“When I first opened The Learning Circle, parents–just like local agencies–thought of childcare as babysitting: I realized there was much to be done to encourage collaboration between families and teachers in order to ensure the overall healthy development of children. As I spoke to parents during interviews and meetings, I found that their perception of childcare slowly changed. They began to view childcare programs in general, and TLC in particular, as a healthy part of their child’s development.”
